DANIEL MYLREA

Will - 1830 (Jurby)

In the name of God Amen I Daniel Mylrea of the parish of Jurby do make publish and declare my last will and testament in manner following:

First I recommend my soul to God and body to Christian burial

Item I leave and bequeath as legacy the sum of sixpence to each of my children namely John Mylrea, Daniel Mylrea, Elinor Lord, Elizabeth Kneen, Mary Mylrea, Ann Mylrea, Margrett Mylrea

Item I leave and bequeath all the rest and remainder of my goods chattels and effects unto my loving wife Mary Mylrea whom I nominate and appoint sole executrix of this my last will and testament this 7th February 1830

NOTES

  1. Daniel was the second son of John Mylrea & Jane als Clark (Ballacooiley) born 1761
  2. He was left a small legacy by his grandfather, Daniel Clark to put him "to some honest trade" when he was in his teens, but nothing is known about what Daniel did for a living
  3. Daniel married Mary Hughes 1789, Ballaugh and they had 8 children all born in Ballaugh: Jane (1789), John (1791), Elinor (1793), Mary (1796), Dan (1799), Elizabeth (1802), Ann (1805), Margaret (abt 1807)
  4. 7 survived: John married Isabella Quayle, Elinor married Henry Lord, Dan married Mary Stephenson, Elizabeth married John Kneen, Margaret married Daniel Bannon
  5. No information on remaining three daughters (Jane - did she have illegitimate child Elizabeth in German?), Mary or Ann
  6. Daniel & Mary might have been living in Jurby (he died there) in their old age, with daughter Margaret (Bannon) or Daniel might have gone there to work earlier in their lives
  7. Daniel was buried in Ballaugh (12/2/1830), as was his wife Mary als Hughes (16/5/1843)
